Question 1

What is Wameed POS?

Accepted Answer

Wameed is a complete point-of-sale system for Saudi retail and restaurants. It handles selling, inventory, purchasing, staff, customers, reporting and ZATCA Phase 2 e-invoicing — and it keeps working for 24 hours when the internet is down, signing compliant invoices on the device.

Question 2

What kinds of business is Wameed built for?

Accepted Answer

Restaurants and cafés, general retail, and five specific industry modes: pharmacy (batch and expiry), jewellery (gold weight and daily price), electronics (IMEI and serial capture), florist (perishables and made-to-order) and bakery (production batches). Each mode changes the workflow, not just the labels.

Question 3

What does Wameed not do?

Accepted Answer

We do not have a self-service kiosk, a drive-thru module, multi-brand management, own-fleet delivery dispatch or delivery zones, an offline kitchen display, a waitlist, a white-label online ordering site, a native general ledger or payroll, or an extensive third-party app marketplace. If two or more of those are essential to you, another system will serve you better.

Question 4

Is Wameed available in Arabic?

Accepted Answer

Arabic is the primary language, not a translation layer — the interface is designed right-to-left from the start. English is fully supported, and the cashier screen is also available in Urdu, Bengali and Pashto, set per staff member.

Question 5

How long does it take to get started?

Accepted Answer

A single shop with a clean product file is usually running within a week. The work is mostly your catalogue — products, cost prices, VAT treatment per product — rather than the software. Multi-branch businesses should plan four to six weeks and go live one branch at a time, quietest first.

Question 6

What hardware does Wameed run on?

Accepted Answer

Android terminals including the Landi C20 Pro with an integrated mada reader, Windows and macOS machines, any modern browser, and rugged PDAs from Zebra and Honeywell for stock counts and receiving. The software is hardware-agnostic, so you are not tied to one supplier or one replacement price.

Question 7

Do I have to buy hardware from you?

Accepted Answer

No. The Landi C20 Pro comes free with a subscription and goes back if you leave, but you are not tied to it: any device meeting the specification works, and you can buy your own and keep it. What we do not do is tie the free device to a minimum term — there is no commitment period and no early-exit charge, so leaving costs you the return postage, not a settlement figure.

Question 8

Which printers and scanners are supported?

Accepted Answer

Standard thermal receipt printers at 58mm and 80mm, thermal label printers, impact printers for kitchens near heat or steam, 1D and 2D barcode scanners, cash drawers connected through the printer, and legal-for-trade scales. The current compatibility list is on the hardware page — use 80mm receipt paper where you can, because it prints a more reliably scannable ZATCA QR.

Question 9

Do I need a server in the shop?

Accepted Answer

Not for selling. Each terminal is complete on its own. A local server is only involved for the kitchen display, which is why the KDS is the one component that stops during a network outage.

Question 10

Which delivery platforms does Wameed connect to?

Accepted Answer

Ten: Jahez, HungerStation, Keeta, Talabat, Noon Food, Mrsool, Ninja, The Chefz, ToYou and Carriage. Orders arrive in the POS and on the kitchen display without anyone re-keying them from a tablet on the wall, tagged by channel so your reports can separate delivery from dine-in.

Question 11

Does Wameed work with my accounting software?

Accepted Answer

Wameed exports to Qoyod, QuickBooks and Xero — daily sales journals with revenue by category, output VAT by rate, payment methods, refunds and discounts. To be clear about the limit: there is no native general ledger and no payroll inside Wameed. Accounting is an export, not a replacement for your accountant.

Question 12

Is there an API?

Accepted Answer

The product has a complete API that its own apps use. What we do not yet have is a public partner API programme with published documentation and self-service keys — so if you need to build a third-party integration today, talk to us rather than assuming it is available.

Question 13

Can I import my products from another system?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from a spreadsheet export. The import reports exactly what it could not match and why, rather than silently dropping rows — the silent drop is how catalogues end up short by two hundred products that nobody notices for a month. Bring your real file to a demo and import it there.

Question 14

What happens when the internet goes down?

Accepted Answer

You carry on selling. Sales, ZATCA invoice signing and printing continue for up to 24 hours without a connection, in the native app and in the browser cashier. The invoices are signed on the device so they are valid at the moment they print, and they are reported automatically when the line returns.

Question 15

Does anything stop working offline?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the kitchen display needs the local server, so when the network between the till and the screens is down, the KDS is down. Keep a wired kitchen printer as the fallback and rehearse the switch once. Card authorisation also needs the network, so cash is the fallback for payment during a full outage.

Question 16

What happens to stock when two terminals are offline at once?

Accepted Answer

Sales are never rejected — a sale that happened, happened. On sync, stock reconciles to reality, which can produce a negative figure if both terminals sold the last unit. A negative is a true statement and it surfaces as an exception to investigate rather than being silently rounded away. Invoice sequences are per device, so the hash chains cannot collide.

Question 17

Can I keep selling if a terminal breaks?

Accepted Answer

Open the browser cashier on any laptop or tablet and keep selling — about five minutes, and it works offline and signs ZATCA invoices just like the native app. This is why we recommend keeping one spare device in the office.

Question 18

How are card payments handled?

Accepted Answer

Through the EdfaPay integration, inside the same sale as everything else — so the payment is attached to the invoice and reconciliation is a report rather than a manual comparison between two systems. mada runs at 0.8% capped at SAR 40 per transaction, and funds settle directly to your own store account.

Question 19

Does the money go to you or to me?

Accepted Answer

To you. Settlement goes directly to your own store account; we do not hold your funds and pass them on. Our share of a transaction is 0.1–0.2%, taken as part of the arrangement rather than by sitting in the middle of your cash flow.

Question 20

Can I take payments without a card machine?

Accepted Answer

Yes — tap-to-phone SoftPOS turns an NFC-capable phone into a contactless card reader. It suits market stalls, delivery drivers, table service and as a backup when a terminal fails. It is contactless only, so a customer with a chip-and-PIN-only card still needs a terminal.

Question 21

Do you support buy now, pay later?

Accepted Answer

Yes, at the counter through Tabby, Tamara, MisPay and Madfu. You are paid in full less a merchant fee, and the credit risk sits with the provider. Work out whether the basket uplift covers the higher fee before switching it on — it usually does at high basket values and usually does not on everyday items.

Question 22

Can I split a payment between cash and card?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Split tender is supported on any sale, and bills can be split by item, equally, or by a custom amount — with each split producing its own complete, compliant tax invoice rather than one invoice and several slips of paper.

Question 23

How much does Wameed cost?

Accepted Answer

Three published tiers, priced per site rather than per user: Starter, Professional and Enterprise. Starter is SAR 200 a month, or SAR 2,000 a year — both before VAT. The current figures and what each tier includes are on the pricing page. The terminal is free for as long as you subscribe: a Landi C20 Pro with an integrated mada reader, with nothing to buy and nothing to finance. If you leave, you send it back.

Question 24

Do you charge per user?

Accepted Answer

No. Pricing is per site, so adding staff does not raise your bill. This is deliberate: per-user pricing pushes shops towards shared logins, and a shared login removes the ability to answer who voided a sale or applied a discount.

Question 25

Is there a contract or a minimum term?

Accepted Answer

Talk to us about the terms that suit your business. What we will always put in writing: the data export format, that export is included at no charge, and how long we retain your data after you leave. Ask any vendor for those three before signing anything.

Question 26

Can I try it before buying?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use the trial properly: import your real catalogue rather than sample data, run a real shift, unplug the router for twenty minutes, close the shift and reconcile the drawer, then export everything and open the files. If it survives that, price is the only remaining question.

Question 27

What does it cost over three years?

Accepted Answer

Subscription × 36, plus the terminals you buy, plus payment processing on your card volume. There is no implementation fee, no training fee, and no charge for exporting your data. Work out the same three-year figure for every system you are comparing — the monthly price is the smallest line on the bill.

Question 28

Who can see my data?

Accepted Answer

Your data is yours. Access inside your organisation is controlled by per-user accounts and granular permissions — including who can see cost prices and margins, which are your supplier terms. Every login, price change, permission change, refund and export is recorded in an activity log you can review.

Question 29

Does Wameed store card numbers?

Accepted Answer

No. Card data is handled by the payment provider and never touches the point of sale. This is the correct architecture, and any POS that tells you it stores card numbers for refunds has told you something important about how it is built.

Question 30

Can I export all my data and leave?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Export is self-service and included at no charge — products, customers, sales history and invoices. We think the ability to leave is part of what makes staying a choice rather than a trap, and we would encourage you to demand the same in writing from any vendor you are considering.

Question 31

How do you handle customer personal data?

Accepted Answer

Customer contact details you collect are personal data under the Personal Data Protection Law, and you are the controller. We process them to provide the service and for nothing else. There is a data deletion request page for individuals, and the privacy policy states what is held and why.

Question 32

Can I stop a cashier from issuing refunds?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we would recommend it as the single most valuable control in a shop. Permissions are granular — refunds, voids after payment, discount ceilings, price overrides, stock adjustments and cost-price visibility are all separate. Manager approval uses a PIN rather than the manager typing their password in front of staff.

Question 33

What support do I get?

Accepted Answer

Support in Arabic and English, covering the hours shops actually trade — including Friday and Saturday. A terminal that is completely down is a phone call, not a ticket in a queue. Contact details are on the contact page.

Question 34

Do you help with setup and training?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our advice is three short sessions of twenty minutes each on the real system with your real catalogue, rather than one long group session — spaced repetition holds, and a four-hour session is forgotten by Thursday. We also strongly recommend a rehearsal day of fake trading before go-live.

Question 35

Can I switch from my current POS without losing data?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with the right sequence: export everything from the old system and verify the files open before you cancel anything, record the last invoice number and hash per device, onboard the new terminals with ZATCA in advance, and stop the old system completely on a device before the new one issues on it. Count stock on cutover day rather than carrying quantities over.

Question 36

Do you support multiple branches?

Accepted Answer

Yes — one shared catalogue with per-branch overrides, stock transfers with an in-transit state and receipt confirmation, branch-scoped permissions so a branch manager sees their own branch, and consolidated reporting with branch comparison. What we do not have is multi-brand management, which is a different thing.

Question 37

Is Wameed compliant with ZATCA Phase 2?

Accepted Answer

Yes, natively. Wameed produces UBL 2.1 XML invoices with the previous-invoice hash chain, signs them with a production certificate held on the device, generates the Phase 2 QR including the hash, stamp and public key, and reports simplified invoices within the 24-hour window. Standard B2B invoices go through clearance.

Question 38

Where does the invoice signing happen?

Accepted Answer

On the device. The production certificate and its private key live on the terminal, so the cryptographic stamp is computed locally in milliseconds with no network call. That is what allows a fully compliant invoice to be issued and printed while the internet is down.

Question 39

Can I onboard a new terminal with ZATCA myself?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in about five minutes, at any hour. You generate a one-time password on the Fatoora portal and enter it on the device; Wameed handles the certificate request, the compliance checks, the production certificate and the renewal schedule. It is not a support ticket.

Question 40

How do I know my invoices were accepted?

Accepted Answer

The compliance view shows accepted, accepted-with-warnings and rejected as three separate numbers, filterable by device and date. The count of invoices not yet reported is shown on the terminal itself, where staff can see it, rather than buried in a settings page.

Question 41

When does my Phase 2 wave start?

Accepted Answer

ZATCA rolls Phase 2 out in waves defined by annual taxable revenue, and notifies affected taxpayers directly at least six months in advance. Check the Fatoora portal and your registered correspondence for your own date — do not rely on a blog, including ours.

Question 42

Does Wameed handle credit and debit notes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Returns start from the original invoice — scan its QR or search the number — and produce a credit note that references it, with a structured reason, a dedicated permission, and automatic stock return with a separate path for damaged goods. Invoices are never deleted, because deleting one would break the hash chain.
