Wameed vs Revel: iPad-first, and what that decides for you
Revel is a capable iPad platform with real offline support — one of the few in this comparison. The differences are in tables, split checks, digital receipts and what the hardware decision costs over three years.

Revel is one of only two systems in our comparison set — alongside Wameed and Foodics — that our August 2026 audit marks as genuinely offline-capable. That alone puts it ahead of most of the field, and it deserves credit for it.
It is an iPad platform: you bring your own iPads, and the software runs on them. That single decision shapes most of what follows.
Where Revel is strong
Cloud POS, a marketplace, menu management, a full customer module, dashboards and reporting, inventory, coupons, delivery zones and dispatch, promotions, loyalty, API access, a web cashier, online ordering, self-service kiosks, a customer display, aggregator integration, kitchen management, mobile POS, pay at table, offline mode, andoffline kitchen display — a row Wameed does not have.
Human capital management is present. Multi-brand is not.
Where Wameed differs
From the same audit:
| Wameed | Revel | |
|---|---|---|
| Table management | Floor plan, zones, timers | Not available |
| Split checks | By item, equal, custom, split tender | Not available |
| Gift cards | Yes | Not available |
| Digital receipts | WhatsApp, SMS, email | Not available |
| Timed events | Happy hour scheduling | Not available |
| Supply chain | PO, receipt, transfers, warehouses | Not available |
| Labour management | Scheduling, attendance | Not available |
| Business intelligence | Forecasting, anomaly, shrinkage | Not available |
| Saudi payment rail | EdfaPay, mada, SoftPOS, BNPL | Not available |
| Offline kitchen display | Not available | Yes |
| Multi-brand | Not available | Not available |
The two rows that surprise Saudi merchants most aretable management andsplit checks. In a restaurant with seating, a system without a floor plan and without splitting a bill by item is a system your staff will work around with paper, and paper is where the disputes start.
Digital receipts matters too. Sending the invoice over WhatsApp is close to the default expectation in Saudi Arabia now, and it is also how you build a customer list that actually has contact details in it.
The hardware arithmetic
Revel is bring-your-own-iPad. That sounds like a saving, and on day one it is. Over three years, work out:
- The cost of the iPads themselves, at retail, for every counter
- Replacement when one is dropped — retail again, not a fleet rate
- Cases, stands and card reader mounts
- iPadOS version support: an iPad that stops receiving updates eventually stops being a supported POS terminal
Wameed's Landi C20 Pro comes free with the subscription, with the mada reader integrated rather than bolted on, and the same software also runs on Windows, macOS, the browser and rugged PDAs. If a terminal fails, any laptop in the office becomes a till in five minutes.
Payments and compliance in Saudi Arabia
Our audit marks Revel as having no Saudi payment solution. That means a separate payment terminal beside the iPad, a separate settlement, and a manual reconciliation at the end of the day between two systems that do not know about each other.
Wameed takes mada through EdfaPay at 0.8% capped at SAR 40, settling to your own store account, with tap-to-phone SoftPOS and BNPL through Tabby, Tamara, MisPay and Madfu — all inside the same sale, so the reconciliation is automatic.
On ZATCA Phase 2, Wameed signs on the device and keeps signing offline. Ask Revel to demonstrate Phase 2 behaviour specifically for Saudi Arabia.
Who should still choose Revel
If you already own iPads, run counter-service without seating, and value offline kitchen display highly, Revel is a reasonable answer. It is a mature product and its offline support is real.
If you have tables, split bills, send receipts on WhatsApp, or want mada handled inside the sale, the gaps above will be daily friction rather than occasional.
